Hau Mitakuyepi, Norris Elementary, will hold a social dance/Parent night on January 30th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Norris Eagels gym. This dance is for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Kindergarten and 1st graders will have a social dance with their teachers in the classroom the day of. We encourage you to bring your child for an evening of fun and socializing! John Miller-Millerman Entertainment will be providing the music and entertainment. The students will go home after school, and their parents will bring them back at 6 p.m. for the dance. The Black Pipe Singers have been cordially invited to perform the Lakota National Anthem for the high school football State championship game on Friday, November 8th at 7 pm. It will be televised on KELOLAND/ NBC, PBS (Public Broadcasting), live stream, FaceBook live, and it will be on YouTube. This is the first time in history that they have allowed an elementary drum group to perform the Lakota National Anthem at the state championship. We are Lakota strong and Lakota proud! Dear Parents and Guardians: Thursday, October 31st, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe will be having a Trunk Treat in Rosebud at all the Tribal entities from 11 am to 3 pm. Norris Elementary students will be attending this Trunk Treat. Please have them wear their costumes or bring them to school. The big bus will be leaving Norris at 11 am. Students will return around 1 pm. Classroom parties will start at 2 pm, Parents if you have goodies or snacks for your child and their class, please bring the treats to school by 1:45 for your child to hand out. Thank you! Elementary Vision Screening will be on October 22 in White River and Norris. This is for grades K,1,3,5. This is done by the Lions Club and a permission form is required. Forms will be sent home today, Oct 16. Please fill them out and return them. This is a great and thorough screening. A note will be sent home with the students who are referred for a full exam. If you DO NOT want your child to be a part of the screening, please let the school office know. You will be notified if your student shows a need for further evaluation. Any questions or concerns, feel free to call the school.
