Hau Mitakuyepi, I hope this message finds you safe and well. We have great news to share with you. The President of South Dakota State University, Barry Dunn, along with a team of doctorates and a group of Student-Teachers, will be here on Monday, March 31st. Along with the Rosebud Sioux Tribal President, Madam Kathleen Wooden Knife, in attendance. We will be having an honoring at 1 pm. All parents and community members are welcome! The Black Pipe Singers will be performing. We are collaborating with SDSU to promote teachers at Norris/Black Pipe School and our district. This will be the first University President to visit Norris Elementary! We are Black Pipe, Corn Creek, and Red Leaf strong, and Black Pipe, Corn Creek, and Red Leaf proud! Go Eagles!

The Black Pipe Singers will be performing in Sioux Falls for the Avera Corp. (hospital) on Thursday and Friday, March 20-21st. This is a first of its kind pilot program to help with the Traditional enrichment for our Indigenous Hospice and terminally ill patients. We are honored and proud that we were selected to provide these services for our elders. We hope to build a lasting relationship with Avera Corp. and the Sicangu Oyate to help improve the care for our People! History in the making! Go Eagles!

Hau Mitakuyepi, friendly reminder, the school will be dismissing today at 3:15. Parent/Teacher conferences will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm. Please attend to get up-to-date information about your student's educational progress. See you tonight at the conferences!

Hau Mitakuyepi, we will be having a Hearing Screening on Thursday, February 6 here at Norris Elementary starting in the morning, around 9 am. If you have any concerns with your child's hearing, please note. If you have any questions feel free to contact the school at 605-462-6455. Thank you.

Hau Mitakuyepi, Norris Elementary is having a Rockin 2025 dance for grades 2-5 from 6-8 in the Norris Eagles gym. Parents, if you need assistance or help getting your child to the dance, please call Mrs. Charging Hawk to arrange a time to pick them up. We have 3 aunties and a grandma who will be at the school at 5 pm to do the girls' hair. If you would like your daughter or granddaughter to have their hair done, please bring them early.
This is the first dance at Norris Elementary in 100 years. We are so proud of our students and Black Pipe School.

Norris Elementary dance for 2-5 grades will be held on January 30th from 6-8 in the Norris Eagles gym.
Ms. Marla Ferguson-Community Chairwoman for the Black PIpe community, has volunteered to help the girls do and fix their hair. If you would like your daughter/granddaughter's hair dolled up, please contact Marla at 605-441-6090.

Hau Mitakuyepi, Norris Elementary, will hold a social dance/Parent night on January 30th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Norris Eagels gym. This dance is for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Kindergarten and 1st graders will have a social dance with their teachers in the classroom the day of.
We encourage you to bring your child for an evening of fun and socializing! John Miller-Millerman Entertainment will be providing the music and entertainment.
The students will go home after school, and their parents will bring them back at 6 p.m. for the dance. The theme is Norris Rocking 2025! Thank you for your support!
