The White River Board of Education approved Boys and Girls Wrestling (grades 7-12) as a non-funded SDHSAA-sanctioned activity at their October 22, 2025, board meeting. This is the first time that White River student/athletes will have the opportunity to wrestle in White River as an SDHSAA-sanctioned program. The approval as a “non-funded” activity means that student-athletes and their families will be responsible for all travel, fees, and other expenses incurred during participation in wrestling. White River School District will not provide transportation to practices or competitions.
White River School District has approved a two-year cooperative agreement with Todd County School District for boys and girls wrestling. All practices will be held at the facilities of the Todd County School District. Coaches will be provided by the Todd County School District, and student-athletes will be under the guidance of the Todd County wrestling coaches. White River students must still follow all eligibility requirements set forth by the White River School District to participate in wrestling. The cooperative agreement was approved by the SDHSAA on November 5, 2025.
First day of practice for wrestling is Monday, November 17th.
If your child would like to participate in wrestling for the 2025-26 school year, they may contact Eldon Marshall @ 605-259-3135, ext. 1203 or by email at eldon.marshall@k12.sd.us
