The White River School District is celebrating a major academic victory, as White River Elementary and Norris Elementary have officially exited the state's Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) designation. This achievement marks a significant turnaround, reflecting the dedication and hard work of students, staff, and the entire community.
For a school to exit the TSI status, it must show sustained improvement in academic performance, demonstrating that previously underperforming student subgroups have made substantial progress and are no longer meeting the state's identification criteria. This is a testament to the focused efforts and effective strategies implemented by both school communities.
School leaders attribute the success to several key initiatives:
- Targeted Interventions: The schools implemented specific, evidence-based academic interventions, particularly in math and reading, to address learning gaps identified in various student groups. This intensive support has helped accelerate learning for those who needed it most.
- Dedicated Staff and Leadership: The unwavering commitment of teachers, administrators, and support staff at both schools was crucial. Their consistent focus on student-centered learning and a growth mindset has fostered a positive and effective educational environment.
- Community and Parent Partnerships: Increased engagement with parents and the broader community has played a vital role, ensuring that students receive support both inside and outside the classroom.
Superintendent Louie Krogman remarked, "This is a moment of pride for our entire district. Our students have proven that hard work pays off, and our educators have gone above and beyond to provide the necessary support. Exiting TSI is not just an accountability milestone; it's an affirmation of the quality education being delivered at White River and Norris Elementary."
