State FCCLA was a great success with 18 students attending in 6 different competitions/events. Riley Bouman, Savannah Knispel, Brooklynn White Hat, Trey Jordan, and Tyson White Hat competed in knowledge bowl. Savannah Knispel also competed in job interview and acted as our chapter president during the regions award ceremony.
Trey Jordan, Tyson White Hat, and Teagen Bouman competed in professional presentation with their topic being Social Media Addiction earning a silver. Maleyah Krogman, Iliyah Crow Eagle, and Kaydence McDaniel also competed in professional presentation with their topic on Eating Disorders and were 0.5 points away from earning a gold. Hazin Schmidt, Gunner Watson, and Mekhi Krogman gave their presentation on the decline of Lakota language and were 1 point away from earning a gold. Extremely proud of these groups as it was their first time presenting for most of them!
Jayda Lee and Brendy Bartlett competed in repurpose and redesign. Their project was "Why Waste When You Can Wear?" where they took window curtains and sewed pants out of them.
Maleena Brave and Page Wright competed in Chapter Service Project Display on the community service project they helped organize "Cover Them in Care: Supporting Survivors" which is where they made tie blankets and donated to the Missouri Shores Domestic Violence Shelter. They received top superior and got to walk across the stage where they announce their name and chapter to over 1,400 people!
Lastly, Taylor Krogman and Maliki Spotted Tail worked with Maleena and Page on the same project, but competed in Chapter Service Project Portfolio with their project titled "Tied With Love: Blankets of Hope". They walked across the stage for receiving a top superior as well and placed 2nd within their level qualifying them for national FCCLA in Orlando, Florida this summer! They received a 97/100 on their project, so they were very close to presenting their project perfectly.
To say I'm proud of this group is an understatement. They could not have represented White River better - they displayed incredible character, respect, and class throughout the entire trip. To be this group's adviser has been amazing and I am honored. Thank you everyone for your support! Next up, nationals!
