8th graders have begun their Holocaust unit in Mrs. Mitchell's ELA and Reading class. Last week Mrs. Mitchell invited 2 speakers from the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) to speak with students about Judaism and some history of Antisemitism. Our second speaker shared her family's story of survival from several concentration camps and their successful emigration to the United States post-war. Our guests were able to speak to our students via Zoom, and shared slideshows of information and personal stories and images. The 8th graders were great participants as well, they were able to write some questions down for Mrs. Mitchell to send to the speakers. We are eagerly awaiting their replies.
