We are reading some really great new-to-us novels this year!
The 6th grade is reading Pax, a story about a boy who had to release his pet fox into the wild because of the impending war. He decides to set out on a journey to find his fox and bring him home; he meets an interesting character along the way who teaches him about discovering who you truly are and what you believe in.
The 7th grade is reading Ghost, which is told from the point of view of Castle Crenshaw - a seventh grader with raw running talent and a traumatic past. The track coach helps Castle (aka Ghost) learn to channel his anger, face his trauma, and find a chosen family.
Make sure to ask your students about what they are reading in class - it's good stuff!
