Students were excited to see that the Pierre Community Theatre was performing a play adaptation of the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. They were even more ecstatic when they requested to go with classmates, and the answer was, "yes!" The play was presented for two weeks, the last week in February and the first weekend in March. After school on March 5th, 8 students traveled with Mrs. Mitchell to the Pierre Community Theatre. They enjoyed seeing the book portrayed on stage in a unique and different way. There were several differences from the novel, and the students thought these added to the overall story. The stage effects were some of the most impressive moments for a couple students. Many liked following along the acts listed in the program and anticipating what would happen next. The highlight of the night was that the students were able to shake hands, receive signatures, ask for pictures, or a hug from the cast. It was a long day, but the students made some amazing memories and they're looking forward for the next book we read to be on stage for them to see. It was very special to see the students who enjoyed the book in October take initiative to see the story in other ways.
