Here is the Start School Plan 2021 that was presented and approved by the school board on July 12, 2021. Phase 1 is a return to school in person with some mitigation protocols in place such as parents/students doing health screenings at home, social distancing to the extent possible, masks are not required, busing will have regular routes, and food service will be provided in the lunchroom. Daily sanitizing, use of contactless water fountains, and emphasis on personal responsibility for handwashing, etc. will continue.
School will start as back to normal as possible. But still recognizing that the COVID pandemic is not over there are plans in place for Phase 2 and Phase 3. Phase 2 puts in place protocols that were used all of last school year where masks were required, etc. and Phase 3 is the Emergency Closure procedures. There is no option for Distance Learning for the 21-22 school year. A change in the Close Contact tracing is that fully vaccinated people are not identified as close contacts.
The complete plan is posted on the school district’s website at https://www.whiteriver.k12.sd.us/page/start-school-plan-2021
